Yes, this is from last year. Shut it.
I really hate it when people say "turkey day." Happy Turkey Day! I mean seriously, is there anything more annoying than that? I don't think so. So today, on turkey day, for the first time in 3 years I think, I am going to my parents house for the big day. This is very exciting for a number of reasons. First, my parents are gluttons. I clearly inherited their fine genetic stock, because none of us have that special mechanism that allows one to stop eating. To be honest, I'm a little bit surprised that they have never tried to resurrect the idea of the vomitorium. The old dad has made two turkeys for the big day, plus one last week so he can use it in the stuffing for these two. I'll take "Is that psychotic?" for $1000, Alex! Looks like I am going home with the cash prize because GOD KNOWS THAT 10 PEOPLE DO NOT NEED THREE TURKEYS. I would write more about my crazy family because this is basically going to be one of the more entertaining days of the year, but since they all read this freaking webpage and then harrass me (or my mother) about it, I can't post any of the good stuff. Sad, isn't it?
soo fucking cuteee!
I was in the mall a week or so ago and a girl had a sugar glider in her pocket! it made me think of you haha
turkey day = annoying yes... but i think it's kinda cute, only because my cat is named turkey.
jamiee | December 5, 2002 2:47 PMthe only thing worse than "happy turkey day!" is "happy tofurkey day!" now *that* bugs me.
doug | December 1, 2002 11:22 PMI think Fran is in for the kill here. You better come up with an update involving excrement in the next coupla days or people will desert you in droves. Think of the childen. Do it, for Pete's sake...
Actually, you wouldn't be that mean to Fran. I for one, though, am heading gritmedia-wards until I learn how to find $800.
k | November 30, 2002 7:26 PMHee hee Lina!
I never got the stuffing oneself silly on Thanksgiving thing, but I've eaten too much on occasion. I think at my family's gathering (there were 9 of us), I weighed the most and ate the least (excluding the two kids present). Ah well, life does go on....
Gregoire | November 30, 2002 5:36 AMJust thought. I do know it’s not Kentucky Fried Turkey, before someone says something silly.
Pete | November 29, 2002 5:05 PMYou Guys! Pilgrim offspring. Well I guess you poor pumpkin pie eating folks have go to be happy, after all your hard work, you really do seam to be doing okay out there.
Me, I'm of to KFC to buy a fillet burger. Yay for KFC, oh, and cheese cake.
Pumpkin Cheesecake
225g/8oz digestive biscuits
60g/2oz butter
Juice and zest 1 lemon
340g/12oz cooked pumpkin (steamed or roasted)
225g/8oz caster sugar
450g/1lb cream cheese
1tsp ground cinnamon
½tsp freshly grated nutmeg
4 eggs
90ml/3fl oz double cream
90ml/3fl oz natural yoghurt
1. Heat the oven to 170C/325F/Gas 3.
Pete C | November 29, 2002 4:08 PM2. Bash the digestive biscuits into crumbs. Melt the butter over a low heat and mix in the biscuit crumbs and lemon zest. Lightly grease a 25cm/10-inch loose-bottomed cake tin and press the crumbs into the base and a little up the sides.
3. Mix together the cream cheese, pumpkin flesh, sugar, cinnamon and nutmeg until smooth. Beat the eggs and fold into the pumpkin mixture. Turn into the tin and bake in the oven for 90 minutes until the surface is set but the underneath still slightly squidgy.
4. Take the cheesecake out of the oven and let it cool in the tin. When cool, turn it onto a serving plate, cover with food wrap and chill overnight.
5. Whip the double cream until thick and fold in the yoghurt and the lemon juice. Spread over the top of the cheesecake and serve at room temperature.
Since you can't post about your family, I'll go ahead and bare all about mine on gritmedia. An inkling: finding $800, my uncle and organized crime, excrement, sleeing in a seperate bed from my boyfriend. Another weekend with the Duncans.
franny | November 29, 2002 3:32 PManybody else get a little "backed up" after all that turkey???
ernster | November 29, 2002 12:27 PMI have been celebrating "the consumption of turkey carcasses day " as opposed to "turkey day." It's just more festive......
